    Air Travel in Thailand

Thailand 's air travel is becoming cheaper all the time whether you are flying into the country or within it domestically to its many travel destinations. More routes to fly into Thailand are added every year from international airlines that need to meet the increasing numbers and requirements of the many foreign visitors and business people that travel to Thailand , and the subsequent competition is lowering prices of these flights with many bargains to be found with last minute flight deals. It's getting cheaper every year to travel to Thailand from Europe and America with new routes and more competition, the convenience of air travel is going up whilst cost is coming down.

Air travel within Thailand domestically has also significantly lowered in price as these days there is more budget air carrier companies that are providing cheap flights in and around Thailand and the likes of Air Asia, Nok Air and Tiger Airways are enticing many of the people that used to travel by bus and train to use air travel as a means to get around the country. The new short stop airline companies are also providing cheap air travel to the frequently visited neighbouring countries of Thailand such as Malaysia , Singapore and China .

    Airport Tax

Thailand charges an airport tax for people leaving the country which is at present 500 baht. In fact many countries charge an airport tax but this is most often included in the price of the ticket. In Thailand however when you go through immigration you first have to visit a vending machine and put in a 500 baht note (it accepts no other change) to receive your airport tax slip which you then present at immigration. It is important to remember to have this money available when you leave the country as you will not be allowed to leave Thailand unless you have first paid the airport tax.

When flying domestically the airport tax charge is 40 baht at most airports apart from Koh Samui and Sukhothai which are both owned by Bangkok Airways, and charge 400 baht and 100 baht for airport tax respectively.
