There are plenty of activities in Thailand to keep you entertained; for the sports minded person, there are plenty of well priced golf courses and driving ranges, tennis courts, swimming pools and gyms dotted all over the country, the best facilities usually being available at the larger hotels and health resorts.
Water sports are of course very popular in Thailand with its many islands and coastal resorts, and visitors can enjoy jet skiing, kite boarding, parasailing, sailing and at certain times of the year surfing, amongst others all offered at a reasonable price. Rock climbing is very popular now especially in Krabi with its glorious limestone cliffs, and kayaking and sea canoeing are also widely available in the Southern region of Thailand.
There are plenty of activities in Thailand that make full use of the wonderful tropical scenery including trekking, elephant trekking, bird watching, horse riding and cycling; Thailand’s mountainous regions also provide some excellent mountain biking trails. Scuba Diving and Snorkelling are activities that many tourists travel to Thailand for every year, courses from beginner to advanced are available at reasonable rates from every coastal resort and island.
For the brave and soon to be bruised you can try your hand (and feet, elbows and knees) at Muay Thai kick boxing; this is Thailand’s national martial art and is now very popular worldwide, courses can be taken in many parts of Thailand that are suitable for beginners and professionals alike. If you wish to exercise the mind rather than the body Thailand offers many courses that can last for days or weeks including meditation courses and Thai cookery courses.
