Restaurants
Combine the locals love of dining out to with the different people from all cultures that have established restaurants in Thailand and you will find an excellent mix of very cheap to very expensive dining experiences in Thailand, from the traditional Thai food, through to more elusive cuisines such as Polynesian and Greek and of course a great selection of the classic Italian and French restaurants.
BBQs
Korean BBQs are one of the most enjoyable ways to have a meal in Thailand. Instead of one main BBQ with everybody taking their food from it, each table is presented with a mini BBQ, you then choose your meats and vegetables from the buffet bar and cook it yourself. The BBQ is surrounded by a small "moat" in which you add some meat, some vegetables and egg to make a soup. On top of the BBQ you are supplied with some fat to get it really sizzling and then add your meat, fish, shrimp or squid to cook. Most of these BBQs places are buffet style and cost anywhere from 50-100 baht for an all you can eat, so make sure you go to one very hungry and get your money's worth!
Restaurant Dinner Shows
In Thailand you can find nightly a restaurant that has a traditional dinner and dance show, though reservations are recommended. The setting of the restaurant from decor to cutlery is traditional Thai style and you can enjoy a dance show performing classic Thai stories with great Thai food. Though more for the tourists this is certainly worth seeing once in your stay in Thailand.
Food Courts
In most of Thailand's shopping malls and some of the supermarkets you will find food courts. These are places where you can try a wide variety of dishes at a reasonable price. In a food court you need to first buy some coupons from the counter and then choose what food you would like from the various vendors, and pay for your meal with these. Dishes at an average food court range from about 20-40 baht a dish. Any unused coupons can be refunded at the same counter you bought them at.
Street Food
Thailand's street food vendors are seemingly in every available space, on the largest of main roads to the smallest of streets you can find a decent meal of genuine Thai food at a cheap price. Anything from duck and rice, Chinese noodles to grasshoppers and locusts can be found at a street stall and meals generally average out to about 20-40 baht each.
Tea time
If you want to truly indulge in an elegant dining experience then afternoon tea at some of the best hotels in Bangkok is for you. Afternoon tea is a throwback from the old colonial days in the colonised parts of Asia, and as well as a range of teas, offers scones, clotted creams, jams, cakes, quiches and pastries. The mouth watering menus are served in a relaxed atmosphere often accompanied with live music to enhance the experience.
