Phuket is the most visited holiday destination in Thailand and has the best nightlife of all the islands. The variety of nightlife reflects the variety of guests, from hundreds of small beer bars full of Thai girls wanting your attention to the more classy bars and discos with some of the most entertaining live music performances in Thailand. That's of course not forgetting the massage parlours, the cocktail bars, transvestite cabaret shows and coffee shops all in this 'little Bangkok on an island'. Roughly the size of Singapore, Phuket's fabulous nightlife entertainment is spread over many areas, the number one spot being held by Bangla Rd. on Patong Beach, and the sight of hundreds of beautiful Thai girls cruising the street and touting for bar customers is a sight to behold. Patong BeachPatong beach is the main nightlife area of Phuket, full go go bars, Thai girls calling you into beer bars, karaoke, disco's that define the term 'meat market' full of foreign visitors and Thai girls, pubs, restaurants, live music venues and transvestites. Patong Beach rivals Pattaya nightlife for its wild nights and debauchery, and certainly an eye opener for first timers experiencing Thailand's nightlife. Of course if you do want a more relaxed night out in Patong Beach away from the neon lights and blaring music, many of the restaurants and upscale bars offer a more comfortable and less hectic night life scene. Phuket TownPhuket Town is a certainly a place more for the local Thais and expats, with live music bars and friendly bars and lots of karaoke bars full of singing hostess style Thai girls. For those of you that need more than a beer for entertainment Phuket town also has a cinema complex and bowling alleys. Kata BeachOffering a more relaxed nightlife scene with excellent seafood restaurants and cocktail bars, Kata Beach is perfect for a warm up start to a lively night or simply an evening of refined enjoyment. If you do want to liven things up then Patong Beach is but a Tuk Tuk ride away, and if Patong Beach is too lively for you then its neighbouring beach, Karon Beach is not so far away. Karon BeachSimilar to Kata beach for nightlife, Karon Beach is home to restaurants and quiet bars suitable for the family. Karon beach does have a small area of confined beer bars if you want some company from the ever smiling Thai bar girls, or simply want to people watch from a distance whilst sitting with a cold beer or fine wine. Bang Tao BayBang Tao Bay's nightlife is certainly quiet that a lot of Phuket, the main entertainment there being set up by the resorts for the guests and not especially a place to travel to for a night out. Expect to find more upscale restaurants and bars in Bang Tao Bay, specifically around the Laguna Phuket Resort. Kamala BeachThough Kamala beach's nightlife is quiet in most respects with the usual smattering of bars and restaurants, it is home to the Phuket FantaSea. This 140 acre night time theme park, was created at a cost of over 300 million baht, and is packed with entertainment for the family featuring carnivals, an elephant circus and theatrical shows as well as offering games and shopping. Phuket FantaSea uses cutting edge technology and special effects to show off the magical beauty of Thailand and its traditions. If you’re hungry after all the entertainment there is the 4000-seat Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant offering Thai and international cuisine. Rawai, Chalong, Nai HarnNightlife here is very relaxed and away from the lively tourist scene, and many expats and locals find this to be the best night time area of Phuket, with it's laid back live music bars and excellent restaurants. Being more locally visited expect good value for money as well. |
