One of Thailand's most popular tourist towns, Patong Beach is regarded as the liveliest area of Phuket. This town has a fine sprawling beach and plentiful hotels and restaurants to suit all budgets. Russian cuisine, Danish breads, Indian curries, they're all here. Patong Beach is an evergrowing tourist hotspot with new guesthouses and nightclubs opening regularly. There is something to suit all ages and nationalities.
Bangla road is the centre of the action here, especially at night, similar to Walking Street in Pattaya. Countless bars beckon anyone from Swedish pensioners to young Australians looking for something more than a Pina Colada.
Junk Ceylon shopping centre will keep you out of the blazing sun and offers a superb cinema and a bowling alley. Plenty of shops will cater for all tastes. Families who thrive on European food will have no problem here.
Patong Beach is usually busy and not for those who seek a peaceful vibe although the further you go away from the centre, the quieter it can be. You won't have trouble finding massage parlours here, you will have trouble saying "No thanks" to the charming ladies who try and tempt you into their soothing dens.
For those who like watersports, try kitesurfing or hire jet skis to ride the open waves.
