Just 2 and a half hours travel south of Bangkok is Hua Hin, the oldest holiday resort in Thailand. It was first used in the 1920s when by King Rama VII started using the fishing village for a get away from Bangkok, turning Hua Hin into a Royal Resort. Although a still very active fishing port Hua Hin has developed into a popular travel destination with many resorts, sights and activities.

Khao Takiab Temple

The Khao Takiab Temple or Monkey Mountain as it is known locally is one of Hua Hin's most well known attractions and is well worth a visit if you are in town.

Located on Khao Takiab hill south of Hua Hin just 10 minutes drive from Hua Hin town centre, Khao Takiab Temple is not just any Thai temple.

 

Hua Hin Kiteboarding World Cup 2010

Here are the main markets in Hua Hin, all within the center or not far from it. All are good for a walk around and a look. Some are more touristy and others more smelly but all have to offer an interesting time for everyone.

Hua Hin Beach

The main, busy and nicest part of Hua Hin beach starts outside of the Hilton Hotel Hua Hin and  spans over 5km all the way to Khao Takieb. This part of Hua Hin beach is walking distance from the busy center of Hua Hin Town.

 

Wat Huay Mongkol

Wat Huay Mongkol (Huay Mongkol Temple) is a Buddhist temple set in large grounds to the west of Hua Hin. Wat Huay Mongkol is home to the largest statue of the immensely popular Buddhist monk Luang Pu Thuat who was famed for his ‘miracles’. Luang Pu Thuat lived some 400 years ago.

 

Suan Son Pradipat Beach

Located on the other side of Khao Takieb about 8km south of Hua Hin town is Suan Son Pradipat beach meaning Sea Pine Tree Garden Beach. Much quieter than it's neighbour Hua Hin beach and with lots of own charms. The beach and the adjoining land is owned by the Thai Army Welfare Office.
