Hua Hin is only a small seaside resort and it still has samlors in use there. Samlors are a tricycle that can carry two passengers at a time and are suitable only for very short journeys; they are fast becoming an extinct form of transport in Thailand. Other forms of transport within Hua Hin are motorbike taxi, the inevitable tuk tuks and some bus services. Cars and Motorbikes can be rented out at reasonable rates from many shops and guesthouses in town and though an international driving license is legally required it will be vary rare to be asked for it. Hua Hin can easily be reached from Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand by train or bus travel. Buses can be found leaving regularly from the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok and the journey will take about 3-4 hours. To travel to Hua Hin by train you need to go to Bangkok’s main train terminal, Hualampong where trains leave several times a day for this Royal resort; travel by train is lower than by bus and takes around 4-5 hours. |
